Candle Care

Tips

  • To prevent tunnelling and create a candle memory, the first time you light your soy candle let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the glass
  • Space candles apart while lit to prevent uneven burning
  • Burn your soy candles in a draft free area clear of curtains, books, baskets etc
  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources
  • Allow soy candles to cool and harden before relighting them
  • Do not store candles in the freezer or leave them in a hot car
  • Candles may be cleaned by washing them gently in cool water. Allow to air dry before use
  • Keep the burn pool clean

The Wick

  • Trim the little ball on the end of your wick to keep your candle burning gently, be sure not to cut it too short or it will become engulfed by wax.
  • Keep the wick trimmed ¼ inch to prevent smoking and wick mushrooming and prolong the life of the candle, avoid cutting the wick too short as this will create problems with burning
  • Cut the wick only when the wax has hardened
  • When relighting your candle always trim the mushroom off the top of the wick
  • To prep your candle for the next burn extinguish it by dunking the wick into it’s own pool of wax using a wick dipper or pencil/similar

Troubleshooting

  • If your wax is collecting on one side of the jar, creating an uneven burn adjust your wick back to the centre of the jar or lean it closer to the side that needs more heat
  • Cotton wicks will mushroom, this is a natural character of the wick, always remove the mushroom before and during burning if burning for prolonged periods
  • If you get any black at the rim of your glass simply wipe it away with a damp cloth, this may be a sign that your wick is to long

Safety

  • Never move or leave candles unattended while burning
  • Always place candles on a heat-resistant base and set on a level stable surface
  • Place candles in a safe place away from children or pets

Why Soy?

Soy’s wax is completely renewable. While the global reserves of oil shrink and paraffin prices increase, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow. Paraffin Candles release chemical pollutants such as acrolein, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, toluene, benzene, acetone in to the air when burning, and that’s just to name a few, these may lead to health risks such as allergies, asthma and even cancer.

Soy is a pure clean and sustainable wax, in addition to sustainability, a well-made soy candle will burn cleanly and slowly. While the performance and beauty of soy candles speak for themselves, soy wax is truly an eco-friendly, biodegradable and sustainable product.

  • Pure clean wax, crisp and clean burning and toxic free
  • Non-petroleum based, renewable resource unlike paraffin
  • Natural and biodegradable, good for the environment
  • 100% vegetable wax not tested on animals
  • Free of pesticides and herbicides
  • Kosher Certified
  • Does not stain, so no need to worry about ruining clothing, furniture or other items
  • Burns cooler, avoid wax burns, worry-free use around children
  • Slower burning rate so candles last longer
  • Stronger and purer scent throw
  • Support the environment
  • Renewable, soy can be replaced at a rate faster then the rate of consumption
  • Soy is continually producible without damaging the ecosystem
